Ljubljana, 28 September (STA) - SIJ, a group consisting of a steel and food divisions, posted EUR 13.6m in group net profit in the first half of the year, up 17.2% from the same period last year. Its sales revenue rose by 9% to EUR 557.8m, according to unaudited results released on Friday.
The group, featuring SIJ Acroni and SIJ Metal Ravne as its two biggest steel mills, and poultry group Perutnina Ptuj, made EUR 57.4m in gross operating profit (EBITDA), which SIJ said was approximately on a par with the first half of 2017.
SIJ's metallurgic division generated EUR 426.2m in net sales revenue, a 10% rise on the same period in 2017.
Its EBITDA stood at EUR 43.8m, which the group said was comparable with the same period last year and a result of well-managed costs of strategic raw materials and their transfer onto sale price.
Meanwhile, Perutnina Ptuj, the country's leading food-processing company, made almost EUR 132m in net sales revenue, which is almost 7% more than in the same period last year.
The poultry group is about to change owner, as MHP Holding, a leading poultry producer in Ukraine, announced on Tuesday it was seeking to take it over.
SIJ, which acquired Perutnina in 2015 and currently holds almost 91% of it, confirmed MHP Holding's acquisition plans.
